My main coping mechanism for the pandemic has been to write, and to write, and to write. I’ve documented every twist and turn of Covid-19 in over 150 songs, poems and short pieces of prose. Spaghetti Bolognese (A Very English Tea) wasn’t written at the start of the pandemic but was written to be the first in the story, set in an immediately pre-pandemic English home and introducing Jason and Joanna as the story’s main protagonists and who we check in with occasionally throughout the last year. (There are about a dozen Jason and Joanna songs in the suite).
