A Song for Us is a project conceived by Sound UK Arts (Sound UK), a registered charity (no 1157305) and Arts Council England National Portfolio organisation.
We understand that your personal information and privacy is important to you. We protect your personal information and adhere to all current data protection act legislation with respect to protecting privacy. We do not give out, sell or trade our mailing list data with external organisations. We comply with the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018.
Sound UK Arts, asongforus.org collects the following data:
Your Song / Your Track – Name, email address, location, image, your song link.
When you submit your own song or a track to asongforus.org you have given your consent for your song or track to be included on the public music map.
If you’re submitting your own song: All creations will be approved by Sound UK before going live on asongforus.org. By submitting your song you are confirming that all material you are submitting is 100% original and personally created by you. You are also confirming we (Sound UK) have permission to publicly share online or for broadcast.
If you’re submitting a track by an existing artist: To make sure they’re good for everyone, all track selections will be approved by Sound UK before going live on asongforus.org
Name – When you make a submission to the website you consent for your name to be shown publicly.
Location – When you make a submission to the website we ask you to click on the map where you would like to display your song. We advise you to choose your general area and not your exact location or identifiable point of interest such as your home.
Image – If you decide to add an image with your submission you consent for your image to be shown publicly. You do not have to add an image.
Email – Your email address is not public, but we will contact you when your submission is approved and made live. Your data is always held securely.
You can contact us at email@example.com if you no longer want your song or track included.
When someone visits www.asongforus.org, we use Google Analytics to collect statistical data and details of visitor patterns which tell us which parts of our website visitors use most often. None of this information uses, or requires the use, of personal information and is processed in a way that does not identify individuals. We do not make any attempts to find out the identities of individuals visiting our website.
Cookies are small text files that are automatically placed onto your device by some websites that you visit. They are widely used to allow a website to function. They also provide website operators with information on how the site is being used. We do not collect personal data from our website cookies.
Mailing list – Name and email address
If you have given your consent and signed up to our monthly e-news mailing list via asongforus.org or sounduk.net or paper mailing list at one of our events we give you the option to unsubscribe in every email that we send you, or you can alternatively use the contact details at the end of this policy to get in touch with us. Your data is always held securely. Occasionally we analyse our monthly e-news data for market research purposes to make sure our content is relevant and engaging for you.
