The idea for the track came during the summer of 2020 when lockdown restrictions were lifted temporarily allowing us to do things and go places that had been restricted up to that point. It gave me such an amazing sense of appreciation for the simple things I had taken for granted previously. It was with this sense of optimism that, ‘I can see it in your eyes’, started life as a song primarily inspired by seeing into peoples eyes, the excitement of being free again, the trepidation of not getting too close, the relief of being with loved ones and the sadness of having lost someone to the pandemic and not being able to hold their hands. I was never able to capture this mix of emotions in words despite many attempts but the melody took on a life of its own and the instrumental was born.
