I got fed up with people using the phrase ‘we’re all in this together’ and suspected that nobody in a position of power really meant it – so the song was written a bit ‘tongue in cheek’ – but later, when I learned of some of the ways in which ordinary people were helping each other I thought – maybe we could make something better out of all this.
