Let There Be Love by Nat King Cole sung by Gareth Beckett

Submitted by: Gareth B.

I needed a new focus for my ukulele playing during the March 2020 lockdown so I tried jazz and was drawn to this classic by The Nat King Cole Trio which whilst challenging, was great fun to play. With the possible exception of chilli con carne and sparkling champagne, it talks about the simple things that matter in life and not about what we think we are being deprived of.
I practiced it on my grandson’s cheap Spongebob soprano uke which I purchased secondhand for £15 … and it sounded better than I expected – so I decided to record with it as proves you don’t need an expensive instrument to sound OK.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed playing it!
