This song was composed in response to the emotional and psychological experience of lockdown. Over time as the first lockdown became the second and then the third, news reports began to emerge which drew attention to the impact of enforced social isolation on mental health, particularly of those living alone but who would otherwise be quite social in nature – for many, a sense of loss, loneliness and deprivation became an unwanted and often debilitating new normal in this period, with the need for social contact and communication becoming an incredibly strong one.
