Turtle Social Proximation Party is a song created during the Turtle Song project, a singing and songwriting initiative for people living with dementia and for their carers and companions.
Normally run face to face, Turtle Song took to working online from May 2020 to July 2020 for a 10week project. Participants, music students, a professional composer, director and coordinator met once a week to co-create a song cycle.
This song was created at the height of the first lockdown when the Government guidelines were at their most restrictive and we turned our minds to what we would do once we were ‘free’. From the simple pleasures of family hugs to more ambitious world travelling we let our imaginations run wild and looked forward to when we could throw a giant proximation party again.
