Trebarwith Strand by Nicola Edwards

Submitted by: Nicola E.

Original Song

This is a song based on Cornish wreckers who lured in ships to the treacherous Cornish coast (places such as Trebarwith Strand) with their lanterns only to plunder treasures once the ships became wrecked. Inspired by sea shanties, it is part of our Cornish history and evokes feelings of past desperation and visions of what happened amongst the cliffs and rocks of Trebarwith. Many people are taking to the coast of Cornwall during lockdown and this song can conjure up the imagery of times gone by and what happened to the shipwrecks beneath the oceans surface as you gaze at the horizon.
