Lifeline is a song written last year by Peter Spafford as part of a series of Song Portraits of older people in Leeds. Lifeline is about Betty, who relied on a washing line lowered from her balcony to a neighbour. Her neighbour did Betty’s shopping and attached the shopping bag to the line for Betty to haul up. Lifeline was featured on BBC Radio 4’s Sketches.
