This song was written during the first lockdown of COVID, Spring 2020. Early days for everybody, and the change of lifestyle was still fresh and new. It almost seemed like an extended holiday of sorts! Out in the west country, staying with my folks, it was easy to forget that a pandemic was well underway. But as the death tolls started to rise, and some of my closest friends lost parents, everything became a whole lot more real.
I wanted to write a song that was triumphant, celebratory even. I have written many a depressing song over the years (haha, who hasn’t?) but I thought that times were calling for something more positive and uplifting. The title of the song is loosely based upon ‘love is strong as death’ from the Song of Solomon.
