I wrote this song for my Dad, he passed away in 2000 from complications connected to progressive Multiple Sclerosis when I was 19.
The lyrics in this song provide me with comfort, it is a retelling of everyday, warm and happy moments. ‘Starry nights in northern skies, endless days and holidays. We can go our own way, sing the day away, away, away.’ This is my take on the seemingly endless summer holidays experienced as a child. We would drive up to Strathyre in Scotland every year and listen to Fleetwood Mac the whole way there – ‘we can go our own way’ is my reference to that.
This song for my Dad will always hold meaning to me. I wonder what Dad would make of the world at the moment?!
